Computer Rentals: What You Need to Know

• In order to be added to the waitlist for laptops, please fill out the form linked below. The form is open starting on December 18. If you have already filled out the survey in December, we have already processed your request and you can expect us to reach out with an email if any issues arrive.
• After you have filled out this survey, please be patient for us to contact you. If you come to the office, we will not be able to provide you with a laptop unless we have contacted you first.
• All laptop rentals are only for 1 semester. They must be returned by the end of winter semester, April 23, 2026.
• You will not be able to keep or check out a new laptop for spring and summer unless you are enrolled in BYU courses during the spring or summer semesters. Desktops will still be available for fall/winter students if you are not taking spring/summer courses.
• We reserve the right to charge your account if you do not return your device(s) within the deadline, you have broken or lost the device or cords, or if your device (usually Apple) is not signed out and we cannot contact you.
• If you need or can get by with a desktop, we have many of those and do not plan to run out. We are more than happy to check one out to you immediately.
• We will be erasing the waitlist on February 28, 2026. The form will become active again for Spring/Summer on April 1, but we will not start giving out laptops until April 24.
• As a reminder, the waitlist does not guarantee you receiving a laptop.

Who Can Rent?

Laptop rentals are currently only being offered to BYU students. Active BYU ID holders can rent desktops for off-campus use only.

• To be considered a student you must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for both fall and winter semesters. For a desktop, taking classes during the spring and summer terms is not required.
• If you are not a student, unfortunately we cannot rent a laptop to you. However, we do have computers available for the general public to buy.
• You are the only person allowed to rent for you. Parents and others are NOT allowed to rent in your place as the rental constitutes a binding contract that you must agree to.

How Do I Rent?

For a desktop, walk into the office with your Student ID and we'll handle the rest. For a laptop, fill out the form above and we will contact you when one is ready.

All Rentals Are Free

We will contact all current renters if this policy changes.
